I've been happily playing those files on version 3.0.2 of VLC. No problems. I just change the demuxer to H264 video demuxer, hit save, then drag the .264 file in to vlc and it plays no problem. I'm not sure if version 3.0.2 version is available for the macOS but I was able to have playback of .264 files.

I'm having the same problem.. also with the zoom function too.

This version for me has the most bugs. I hope they update it soon.

This is interesting. I upgraded from VLC 2.2.8 64bit win10 to 3.0.1 64bit win10 and the bugs I get seem to stop the video playing but the audio carries on.

So whatever these bugs are seem to only affect the video part.

I wonder if something like that is happening to me, the portrait/landscape thing, as I'm sure the zoom worked at one point but now stopped.

I hope they fix the bugs soon. I would have thought the zoom and rotate features would have been tested more.

I've used VLC for as long as I can remember and 3.0.1 is the first version I've had problems with. If I play a video and I go in to the settings to tick the box for rotation the video image stops playing (audio continues). If I tick it and save the setting then close vlc and re-open it again to play...
