Thanks! Amazing... Talk about a needle in a haystack. I would've never found this.

Simply but dumb question that I can't figure out. When right-clicking on the VLC dock icon, the top of the list populates all of the previously played files. What should I do to make sure that they don't appear? I don't want to see them.
