It seems this connection accepts both udp and tcp connections, but once established, doesn't do anything with them. It only responds to the http connection. VLC tries http mode last, and needs to let all the other connections time out. Is there any way to resolve this issue, e.g. via preference set...

I just posted a separate topic Nightlies 0.8.6 and 0.9.0 on the general MacOS Forum which I now realize would have been more fitting here, as I am using the Intel versions of VLC. For the administrator to determine whether the discussion should be pursued here or there. Thank you.
