Just to update you, this problem appears resolved. I updated my software and that included VLC along with every other application that was available for updating.

AAC playback is working fine now just in time for the weekend.

I didn't think I'd be back so soon. May or may not have found a bug, but needless to say 3 days ago I was having no issues playing aac encoded files (which make up the vast majority of my collection) note playback of all other formats is uneffected as far as I can tell, MP3, flac, ogg, wav all play ...

Just to give you some follow up feedback, as of 2.5.17 all my radio streams are working again once more. I'm afraid they have blocked VLC

On my Windows PC I'm running VLC 2.2.4 and all the streams are working just fine as of the time of this post. So there must be another answer there somewhere.

The playlist used on my PC is the exact same one I play on the phone. Same urls the lot.

The recent update seems to have caused significant issues for me playing back internet radio streams. I'm in the UK and have a playlist of various local and national stations the vast majority being in mp4 format or AAC/+, and are in various bit rates from 56k all the way up to 320k for the BBC ones...
