Same problem playing some MKVs from my NAS. Have Windows 10 x64 1709 with 1gbit fiber link to my Synology. All movies play normaly with other players never had problems with VLC in the past worked fine but now huge delay before starting to play sometimes up to 1 minute after that all works just fine...
