Re: VLC takes a long time to start

I'm having this problem, too, only much, much worse. VLC takes more than a minute to load. Much more. And everybody who posts a solution either doesn't give enough detail to implement it ("Click on an icon that's buried several layers deep in the sub-menus. No, I'm NOT telling you where to find...

Re: Subtitles for Non-English Lines (but excluding English)

So, here'z the thing: I downloaded and installed GOM Player and started "Red Heat"...and it worked exactly as expected: English subtitles for the dialogue that was in Russian, no subtitles for the dialogue in English. And that was without turning anything on in the subtitle menu. So, one w...

Re: Subtitles for Non-English Lines (but excluding English)

If I put a DVD in a regular player and it behaves as expected, but it does not in VLC no matter what I do, how would you explain it?

Re: Force VLC to display to fit full window/ Not fullscreen!

Somehow I missed that part.

I can't tell whether it's changing the aspect ratio--the numbers that appear on the screen imply it--but it looks okay and is filling the screen...so...

Hotkey o = Toggle autoscaling
Nope. The options are small and still too small.
Nothing makes the edges actually touch the edge of the screen.

Re: Subtitles for Non-English Lines (but excluding English)

I honestly can't believe that. There have been too many movies with foreign dialogue mixed in with the English that don't have subs exclusively for the foreign stuff to think for a moment that the problem isn't with VLC somehow. You know how it is: the terrorists or bad guy army starts speaking in t...

Subtitles for Non-English Lines (but excluding English)

I'm watching a DVD--"Red Heat", for the curious, but that's not the only movie with this problem--where some characters speak English and some speak Russian. VLC gives me two choices: either everybody has subtitles or nobody has subtitles; there seems to be no way at all to have subtitles ...

DVDs Play Slowly

Certain DVDs--and not all of them--have started playing strangely in VLC. Their speed is slow, and the audio is choppy. I've tried speeding up the playback speed, but it doesn't help. I've tried playing these DVDs using other programs and they work fine. So...something is up with VLC. WhatinHades is...

Re: Force VLC to display to fit full window/ Not fullscreen!

Look, maybe I can help out here, because it's happening to me too...I think. Let's start with a picture, so we're not talking past each other: https://i.imgur.com/buN3wyQ.jpg See how the none of the edges of the picture are touching the edges of the screen, the edges of the player window? That shoul...
