Re: Mosaic without Transcoding? (& without VLM???)

Is it possible to create a Mosaic (2x2, 4 videos) without transcoding? No. It is possible with VLC version one. Have no idea, why did they change it. And why on Earth do we need to transcode now. That's not logical. new channel1 broadcast enabled loop setup channel1 input 1.avi setup channel1 outpu...

Re: Please how can I get VLC to only indicate time duration when its been played (useful)

Just pick an external image hosting like this and copy a resulting bb-code here. I'm not sure if that one have english interface, though :(

Give a try to 4.0 nightie, it's pretty stable.

Re: Read in jpg files from folder and stream out

You definitely need some scripting here. For myself I made this one , it picks up *.asf files from a folder and streams them out. And yes, other program sometimes feeds that folder with new ones. Script is for windows/powershell. It speaks with VLC via HTTP. You'll need to slightly change the VLM co...

I believe, it's the "Automatically preparse items" option, which can be disabled in preferences. Don't forget to restart.

Re: ASF + RTSP+TS = problem

And here I also created two logs from both 2.7 and 4.0 reading the same file. All the VLM commands were sent to them at the very same moment. I suppose , the timestamps-in-log patch was discarded, so we have what we have here... First the 2.7 window appeared with a video in it. Then +0.5 sec 4.0 win...

Jean-Baptiste Kempf : logs from a version from 6 month ago? come on. Okay, I've got brand new, shining Otto Chriek vlc-4.0.0-20180213-0319-dev-win32's log. Re: ASF + RTSP+TS = problem

Okay, I've found the original commit, it says, there should be also a protocol name in cmd. Wiki lies lua: merge telnet interface into rc The crappy input buffering code of rc is replaced by the (now) decent one of telnet. A new telnet transport is relatively cleanly added, and VLM commands are made...

Re: ASF + RTSP+TS = problem

If I got you right, you're interested in getting logs from 3.0 related to different caching behaviour? That would be not an easy task, to build that test environment again.

Or you mean logs from the current release branch related to unusable RTSP?

Jean-Baptiste Kempf

Logs.. I didn't think about it. Sorry. Actually I'm still not sure if console VLC can make any logs, except stderr console output...

Well, there should be something like.. "end of file reached", shouldn't it?

Re: ASF + RTSP+TS = problem

Jean-Baptiste Kempf Old tools were better optimized for old PC's requirements. And new stuff usually have a lot of trash, workarounds and legacy in code. There's nothing wrong with using ole' good "classic". About VLC... I have a collection of it's distributions. Every single release from...

Re: ASF + RTSP+TS = problem

I'll be unable to check it till february due to my vacation. As i said, 03.08.2017 nightly build of 3.0 had already had it fixed (but i've preferred old 1.7 for production due to another strange things in 3.0, such as incomprehensible manner of caching I could not solve, write me if you need details)

Re: VLC does something really wrong, when HTTP source is gone.

From your answer I guess there's nothing for "keeping open"? To prevent the behaviour I described in the previous message? I mean, at the moment the Internet is restored, the connection is confidently dead. The player will stick forever (or may be for 2 hours, it depends on socket options ...

Re: VLC does something really wrong, when HTTP source is gone.

It's just waiting for more data. What for? The remote server will shut the connection down unilaterally very soon, and there won't be more data. Others close their connections by timeout (see "plex media" in the table above). Why VLC is so different? Isn't the option "tcp connection ...

Re: VLC does something really wrong, when HTTP source is gone.

It sounds like the TCP connection is still valid Indeed. Other software's connections became FIN_WAIT within a dozen of seconds or so after the disconnect, but VLC's one never closed. Re: VLC does something really wrong, when HTTP source is gone.

Rémi Denis-Courmont

I saw the checkbox "HTTP: try to reconnect". It is disabled. And frankly, vlc seems not to pay any attention to it, I tried.

30 min - that's how much I have been waiting. Should be enough for any tcp stack.
