Re: Cannot play AAC files

Hello,

on Windows 10 with VLC 3.0.4, I have been able to play every AAC file except the "Sample M4A File".

Can you share the error messages you have received from VLC ?
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

Re: CPU Usage Increases for Multiple Instances

Hello, I tried to reproduce your issue on VLC 3.0.4, on windows 10, with hardware decoding deactivated (16% CPU usage on 1080p TS stream suggests you have no hardware decoding on the machine), without any success: CPU usage is fairly constant (15/16% per VLC). The only difference with you is that my...

Re: Get stream Bitrate by command line

Hello,

--sout-stats-output is related to the "stats" sout output, which is the stream output (and not input).
There is no easy way to capture the bitrate displayed in the statistics tab unless you develop something yourself.

On the current version on VLC (3.X), this is the only way.

Re: VLC playback speed

Hello, 1. In theory yes, except for example 480fps means VLC would have 2 milliseconds per picture to render and display it, which is (too) very short. 2. VLC already tries to skip frames when it considers to be late (compared to the audio). The problem is in modern codecs, frames are not equivalent...

Re: VLC is unable to open the MRL

Hello,

You can try a couple of things:
  • First, try to open the disc with the Media -> Open Disc item - the logs seem to show you are trying to open the disc with the File item
.
  • Second, try to open the disc without the menus: you have a No disc menus checkbox on the disc menu dialog

Hello,

Try to deactivate the hardware decoding:
Tools -> Preferences -> Input/Codecs -> Hardware-accelerated decoding -> set to Disable.

If the issue persists, can you try to share one of the media files ?

Re: Show system time in full screen?

Hello, unless you use some external application (or develop one), I am afraid you cannot. Fullscreen mode on Windows is a bit restrictive. The best you can use is probably to press the "Window" keyboard key to show the Windows menu bar (and the system time), then click on the VLC window ag...

Hello,

Your computer may not be powerful enough to transcode (change video codec and resolution) the stream.
try to not activate the "transcoding" part of the streaming configuration.

Be sure to not cut the sout parameter (no space between #transcode{} and :udp{...} ). Here is part of the log when I try the previous command line: main debug: using sout chain=`transcode{aenc=lpcm,acodec=lpcm,channels=1,samplerate=44100}:udp{dst=192.168.1.XXX,port=5004,ttl=1,caching=40,dsp=sap,name...

VLC 2.2 version hardware acceleration was disabled by default.

The culprit is probably your GPU driver, which claims that it is able to decode some codecs.

Hello, unfortunately no: time written inside the audio file data is relative: it starts at 0:00:00, and not the time of the file was created. Finding a link between the file creation date and the relative audio time does not always have a real meaning: for example, an old song recently converted to ...

you have to set Global hotkeys for that, In Tools -> Preferences -> HotKeys.
Be sure to use hotkeys that are not used by any other application, especially the game you are playing on.
