just open it, richt click some songs to get a dropdown where you can remove them. Drag some new songs onto the playlist (op browse to some folder and right click add to playlist) and finally save the playlist, overwriting the existing list.

It's really a matter of when someone comes around to it. It's certainly not one of the harder bugs or features, but any change has to go though a lot of testing, a lot of overhead with changes and discussion to make sure noone gets an unpleasant suprise.. it always takes time.

I wrote a feature request to add an actual button. #20693 However you can already see the location in the media info menu, at the bottom. A path is displayed, which you can also copy over to the file browser. Yes, a button would be more conveignient, that's why I wrote a feature request for that.

Go to tools -> preferences -> interface and uncheck the "resize interface to video size" option.

I think you are looking for the holy grail of playlist formats: - media player is instructed to check if the files are present at expected path when the playlist is opened, and only add items to the playlist which can be loated. - support for relative paths - ability to select by genre and some more...

The ticket has not been addressed yet it seems. Sorry but there are just not enough people contributing to get around to improving this further at this time. The ticket will remain open until someone gets around to it, eventually it will likely be improved. I can't begin to guess when.

But you can sort by column genre!

Don't think this belongs in VLC but maybe someone could write a plugin to do this. As far as I know (I am not certain) there is currently no way to do this.

I thought I wrote a ticket for this quite some time ago. I found my ticket again, and realised I forgot to mention the file name, added that to the ticket now.

No, this is not possible. The extention is meant to tell the OS which program to open the file with by default. If there is no extenton, the OS can't assign VLC to open it by default. You can only rename the files and give them an extention, but than you best use some tool to figure out which extent...
