figured out solution to question 1: timeout 15 cvlc -I dummy screen:// --screen-fps=30 --quiet --sout "#transcode{vcodec=h264}:standard{access=file,mux=mp4,dst="screeb.mp4"}" --run-time=10 this command will run vlc for 15 second, and record the first 10 second. still looking for ...

[ubuntu] recording video stream through terminal commend line?

Hey folks, My friend and I were trying to record a video stream through VLC in ubuntu. I guess we have figured out how to do that by clicking around the options in VLC, but it would be awesome if we can do that in ssh within terminal. We tried a few times for this, It worked with our windows machine...
