After having it crash a couple of times I went back to 2.8. I was using both Windows and Linux. I don't know if I should say nice to hear it is crashing on Mac too, but nice to know I'm not the only one. I had it running with crashes on AMD and gpu:nvidia/cpu:intel. I might go with last 3 before 3.0...

I am using VDPAU on Gentoo (AMD G-T40E r600 PALM chipset). Machine is. I was having problems with crashes or not releasing old video to play new video as it wouldn't release the old file. This was both in VLC 2.26 and 2.28. The log reported libvlc_vdpau.so raised a fragmented error- Kernel is 4.9.80...

I find it easy to remote log in a terminal to a machine where I installed VLC hooked up to TV. I prefer not having to use keyboard or mouse, so ncurses seemed like a good way to start and it is.
