Re: Tone Mapping to show HDR video with better colours?

I could not work this out, I gave up and re-encoded the video in Compressor to fix the playback issue.

Tone Mapping to show HDR video with better colours?

I read that since 3.0, VLC has tone mapping to play back HDR video with improved colour. I would like to use this to play back a HDR 4k video on an SDR protector. I do not seem to be able to make this work. A video file looks good in QuickTime Player, but washed out and bad in VLC. I have tried chan...

Re: Is there an easy way to change the height of Subtitles

Have you already tried the "Force subtitle" position in the advanced settings? Here is screenshot. This should move up or down SRT subtitles. If the subtitles are in .ASS or a format with screen position information, then this won't work. https://i.imgur.com/BxmGFQW.png Hope this is helpful.

Digital Cinema Packages in VLC?

I know that DCP support was announced for v2.2.3 Weatherwax, but from reading some other threads, it sounds like the functionality was created, but not compiled into the general releases. Is that accurate? It was very exciting to read the feature listed in the Weatherwax feature list, including encr...

Re: Looking for advice on Replaygain

An update on this one. I've read that there are applications that scan media files and save the Replaygain value on the file, apps like foobar2000 on Windows, or Media Volume Pro on macOS. In theory that means that VLC would read those values and if enabled, manage the volume to achieve the desired ...

Looking for advice on Replaygain

I've read about Replaygain being useful for keeping volume levels consistent between different videos by setting the option for Replaygain to Track in the advanced settings. However some of the writing online indicates that the files obviously need to be analysed first. Does VLC do this on the fly, ...
