Separate queue window for Play Next / Up Next

I would like to request a feature to allow a separate queue window in addition to the main playlist, so that if a track is playing in the main playlist, I could throw another media file in the secondary queue. After the currently playing track in the main playlist is finished, VLC would check to see...

Re: Play List Shuffle Mode Option

Again, NOYB... you are full of brilliant ideas... and I share your thoughts on this one. This would be an excellent feature! It makes sense that some playlist designers would want each track played in sequential order, and other playlists in shuffle. There are times when a DJ/VJ can't be there to tu...

Re: Shuffle Mode Track Grouping

I second this motion! This is a feature I want too! I can envision checkboxes next to each track that would signify that they are grouped together for consecutive playback, and when it finishes playing the last track in the group, it resumes shuffle. Brilliant idea! I hope the dev's consider this one!

Re: Automatically Opening video/playlist when opening VLC

I've been looking for this feature too, but I don't think it is a built in feature yet. You might need to request it. I did find a way around it though. Just save the video you want to play as an m3u playlist. Then set the m3u file to open with VLC. You can then launch the playlist by whatever means...

Re: Big Pop/Click On Play

Ok, I just d/l the latest nightly vlc-3.0.11.1-61609051 from 22OCT2020... I threw in the usual culprits of .mp4 files and began to play and skip through random files. Guess what? Not ONE single pop. I played the same files in 3.0.11.1 and the pops returned. You guys FIXED IT! YOU ppl are freaking AW...

Re: Big Pop/Click On Play

Same issue here too with.m4v files that I generated from HB. Playlist can contain just 1 file or several files, it does not matter, it produces the same loud pop at the beginning of playback. Pop does not occur every instance of playback, only randomly, so I know the problem is not with the file its...

Also, check to see which interface you have selected... I had mine set for Console (cli), but if you try to launch it from the finder (with Console set as the interface), it will crash just like you described (open briefly for a second and then quit).

Re: Option to display FILE NAMES instead of META TAGS

Well, Rémi, sources such as DVD do not contain the stubborn meta data that blu-ray discs contain, therefore mp4 transcodes of DVD titles only show up in the VLC playlist with the file name given to those titles. Therefore, it can be said that VLC is able to display file names in the abscence of meta...

Re: Option to display FILE NAMES instead of META TAGS

Rémi, take for instance a blu-ray rip of a TV series made from MakeMKV, transcoded to mp4 with Handbrake. The resulting output file(s) will contain the metadata from the original blu-ray disc. Regardless of what the files are named, VLC will only display the metadata in the playlist. This metadata i...

Not sure. I experienced the same thing too, but I simply downloaded the latest 3.0.4 and it worked fine ever since on my Macbook running Mojave 10.14. I downloaded that version on October 30th 2018.

Re: stuck in random playback mode

There is hope. Easy fix. First, see if you have the Repeat and Shuffle icons turned on in the bottom of your playlist window. If they are on (highlighted in blue), then turn them off by clicking on them until they turn grey. If you do not see any repeat or shuffle icons in your playlist window, you ...

Re: Scheduled playback

I use a free program called Scheduler for Mac. You can create events to do whatever... so you can tell it to start up a playlist (m3u file) and tell it to use VLC as the default application, while setting the time and date you want the event to start. It is simply perfect for such a task.

There does not seem to be any advanced setting in Preferences to customize this feature. Interface->Main Interface->macos->Continue playback where you left off->Ask/Always/Never. Those are the only user options. Anything more and you would have to code it yourself or request it as a feature for a fu...

Re: How to auto load music files from a folder to the playlist

As far as I know, VLC is not dynamic when it comes to playlists. In other words, once it has loaded the items from the folder into the playlist, it is static and does not change, even if you have deleted items from or added items to the source folder. It does not update unless you manually update it...

I’ve uploaded a few files to dropbox to help provide evidence of the stuttering I am seeing, with hopes that you can see it too, so that we can all agree that the issue exists and we can move forward with a fix action. Here is the log when playing back the mp4 video file with frame rate of 29.98. When the stuttering occurs, there is no log activity going on at the same instance, so I think whatever visual artifacts/stuttering is occuring, it is happening at a point in VLC's pipeline that is beyond what the log can...

Ok, I think I finally figured out what the problem is. All my mp4 files are sourced from NTSC DVD or North American Blu-rays.
