I don't think your missing anything. There is a option for vlc to ask if want to resume, but either way it will start from last place. You will have to watch all way to end

Are they both on same network? Try sharing over network.

Never HP. I had one once it was for gaming and near bang on 1 year after warranty expired had motherboard melt down. Never buy HP again. But can't recommend a laptop. Not good with them I like desktop. Only because if something fails it can be replaced.

Don't close by home button. You need to use back button just keep pressing until you get back to your home page. Or when it in notifications there may be a 'X'. that may depend on phone model.

I do think this may be a bug. As in settings it set to not play in background.

I get vob. that comes from DVD player but why? ( can answer via priv message) just still don't get why have get DVD rip on phone.

The likely place would be internal (or extsd) > Android > data > org.videolan.vlc

But not sure as never used ' download subtitles' in vlc. But if you delete the video via Vlc am sure it would remove downloaded subtitles as well.

Can I just ask what people mean (as more than you say it) DVD? I know what dvd is but how on phone?

That will depend on speed of network. But tbh I don't think would make much difference.

You could try use this method

The only way I could think of it change phone settings so display won't timeout. But then it on like that all the time. and some phones only have up To 30 min timeouts

To refresh you can just 'pull down' / 'scroll down' or at top right should be 3 dots to open a menu 'refresh' is there. Ah. Just found way to fix it. Could take some whole depending on how many folders you know where files are. Go to settinga > directory > untick first box > then find all folders with files in and tick those. > refresh on main page > done :) hope developer could change so don't have to do that.
