Sporadic video jumping

Hi, I'm running Big Sur 11.6 on MacBook Air 2020. I'm using VLC 3.0.16. When playing both mp4 and mkv movies every 7 minutes or so (it varies) the movie jumps (something like missing a few frames). The movies are watchable but it's new and a little annoying. Any advice most appreciated.

Occasional video glitch

Hi, I'm running Big Sur and VLC 3.0.16. My MacBook Air 2020 is attached to TV via HDMI cable. When watching a movie every so often (it's irregular, every 10/15 minutes) the film jumps. Not really a compute...

no forced subtitles

Hi,
I have a macbook on el Capitan and VLC 2.2.4 - I've been trying to find how to put subtitles at the bottom of the screen - there is no tools menu anymore and in preferences (subtitles) there is no forced subtitle box. Can't you change subtitle position anymore in 2.2.4?
Many thanks
Brendan
