My solution to this was to use the program X-Mouse Button Control https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmo ... ontrol.htm and program one of the mouse buttons to act only in vlc like the pause/play button.
For me it solved the problem

My solution to this was to use the program X-Mouse Button Control https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmo ... ontrol.htm and program one of the mouse buttons to act only in vlc like the pause/play button.
