Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Tested that and it seems that freeze is gone. VLC starts a bit slowly (maybe 10 secs) when started first time after computer reboot, but after that everything opens in seconds. Very good work, I am impressed.

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

That build fixes my problem with libass freeze. Bug with that can be closed.
Can you wait a newer build I am going to throw?
I can test it again as soon as your build is ready and I know where to find it.

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Seems to work fine here with the samples that I have libass isn't an issue or reason for freeze vlc. Libass or not, the freeze I have disappears when I remove that file from VLC. No idea why it does not show for everyone (could be hardware or software related). EDIT: If you can find a way to make f...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

this vlc-1.0.0-git-win32 version is totally unstable. it keeps on crashing if you force to make big jumps in a video and some time the video jerks while playing, some time it even crashes on start. When this happens i must end process vlc from the task manager because it is still runing even though...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Ok, I found out where the problem is: If I rename liblibass_plugin.dll to something VLC cannot load, all files start to open immediately. No idea whats wrong in that dll file though. Same goes if you remove/rename libmkv_plugin.dll. Then it falls back to libavformat and all MKV files open instantly...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

I may have found something. I checked lots of MKV files and to me it looks like that all files which freeze use LIBASS. Those which open immediately never seen to use it. Thats only thing I could see comparing what input etc. modules they use based on "modules tree" in message window.

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Something is wrong with your VLC installation, in fact. Can you uninstall VLC and clean your VLC folders? Can you share the file that has issues? I uninstalled VLC and deleted its install folder and all other folders I found for videolan or VLC. Then installed again. Same problem continues. All fil...

"TIMER module_need() : 21086.001 ms - Total 21086.001 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 21086.000 ms)", this is really weird... Yeah, like I said it takes very long time to open. I think I forgot to mention, that during the freeze VLC also uses lots of CPU power. Normally depending on fileformat VLC use...

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Ok, something is borked in here. I closed VLC to make sure that only one file gets to log. Opened it, opened log, set verbosity and dropped file in. And it STILL adds other non-relevant filenames to log. Any ideas why?

Ok, here is the log. This is cut & paste of the end of log just before that freeze happens. It starts waiting after last line in log: main debug: creating access '' path='D:\Temp\[AQS-Anime]_Negima_Ala_Alba_OAD_01_[H264-AAC][3B9EDF81].mkv' main debug: looking for access module: 5 candidates vcd ...

Now that I loog debug log more closely it also seems to contain references to file I was playing before I pressed "clear" in log window and dropped mkv testfile in. Is this normal behaviour?

Re: New Windows builds for vlc 1.0.0-dev

Some MKV files open really slowly. While all AVI, OGM etc. files I have tested open in 2-3 seconds, lots of MKV files seem to take like 20 seconds to open. For some reason this seems to be limited to newer MKV files as older ones I have open just as fast as other formats. I assume that animegroups c...

Re: Security joke ?

I guess that they are still missing Windows developer and making Windows releases is hard due to that. Still it IS interesting that there are no news about release of 0.9.7 or 0.9.8 for any platform.

Re: SSA subs do not work in 0.9.2

There is a link to one file in the first post. Page which link points to includes one sample mkv file which does not show any texts for me when played in VLC. It works perfectly in Mediaplayer Classic though.

EDIT: I am using Vista 64-bit + SP1. VLC works perfectly except for SSA subs.

SSA subs do not work in 0.9.2

I tested lots of anime fansubs and found 5 series using SSA subs. Only one of them shows subtitle texts when played. In other 4 there are no errors visible anywhere and VLC finds subs, but does not show them at all. All series are either mkv or ogm files. One of them even had SSA subs as separate fi...

Re: Embedded Video With VLC?

Is there any way to have VLC play video that's embedded in Web sites on Firefox?
Not really because pretty much all needed mime types were removed from plugin by some dev. Unless someone compiles plugin with all previous mime types it really does not work at all.

You seem to be missing file used for unicode characters. Since that file comes normally with Windows I assume that you are using some older Windows version which does not include it.

Re: VLC and Firefox

if anyone has successfully added a new type, I'd be glad to know how. I doubt that as according to plugin source code support for those has been removed from plugin source code. You need to change mime types back to previous values in plugin source code and then recompile it again to make it work.
