Limitation of file format. Might need gather, and possibly gather. I'm afraid I don't follow. Is this saying that the webm format will be unusable for this particular process? Is there a better format I should try? Also not sure what you mean by: "Might need gather, and possibly gather."

I have three files previously transcoded to WebM, with VP8 video and Opus audio. Used VLC to transcode them successfully.
