Repeating Jay and myself, but if a library is linked statically, you can find the library version from the VLC version source code. I understand that. but, C++ or at least thats what it looks like is not exactly 'noob' friendly. I am hoping there is another way that does not require me to learn how...

Media Player without libdvdcss?

My organization has some concerns regarding the legality of libdvdcss in the USA and want me to remove that capability before I can use the software.
Is there an existing distribution that has that feature removed or disabled?
Is there a way to do that; without a code change and recompile?
