I have tried this but do not see any change in the UI. From looking at the help it seems this only selects a specific segment of time to play and has nothing to do with updating the UI with new visual indicators. What am I missing?

Is there CL access to the "pre-configured" variables available to the UI Record button? I was just hoping to avoid writing a script to duplicate what's already there (e.g. sout "use the Record button variables").

Since you mentioned "greatly expand":
Might I also suggest A->B | Record = dump A through B to the default output directory and file? You could have a tip with mouse-over of the Record button ("Press Record now to record from A@13s to B@182s").
