Yeah, I couldn't find an auto-update.

Strange problem. It is probably some registry setting that isn't erased when I uninstall and reinstall. Oh well, burned enough time on this - will just live with the extra icon on my desktop. Thanks for trying.

Jay, I appreciate the help. When I right click on the VLC icon on the desktop, there are two options - "Pin to Start" and "Pin to Taskbar". Doesn't that indicate that it isn't in fact pinned and thus when I delete it, it should go away (but it doesn't). Note - I have no other acc...

Minor nit, but if when I delete the link to VLC (2.2.2 Weatherwax) on my Windows 10 desktop, the icon reappears sometime later. I've tried renaming the icon, uninstalling/reinstalling (from both the Windows store and Videolan.org) and it won't go away. I don't need the icon since I have my media fil...
