Still doesn't work for me either. I see my machine, and have SMB sharing turned on (iMac with latest OSX), empty folder message.

Installed that. Now I see the Movies folder, which is filled with AVIs, but VLC shows it empty.

Latest OSX. I wasn't aware I needed to install anything. The machine shows up in the list, but I get the Empty Folder screen.

Mines just the hard drive of my iMac. File sharing is on.

Same with me,it's a bug from tvos.
Go out from appstore,return to home page and you see vlc updated.

@robneal81 go to settings/system and restart atv4

I did, still showing empty folder. So if it did update, it didn't fix anything for me.

Every time I update, it spins and comes back to the button which still says Update. Have done this several times. Wow.

5k iMac, running latest OSX. Plain share, internal hard drive.
