This is no longer working on the latest version of VLC (3.1.5 All along the watchtower) I am using the exact same settings saved in VLC from previous connections where it was all working fine. I tried a different app (PlayerXtreme) and that can read the SMB device fine. Although I prefer to use VLC....
The problem? My login to the SMB connection was a user with a blank password. For some reason VLC doesn't like that. After changing the password it can now read the folder contents!

Btw when I said Kodi, it is iOS version, so from the same iPad device I am using VLC. I just tried OPlayerHD and SMB works fine there too with the MediaShare device.
