Just moved the sample for ticket #15318 to http://streams.videolan.org/issues/15318/ and saw this discussion, I'll ask the involved developers about the ticket.

this VLC media player Skin Editor might help you: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/skineditor.html , as long as you save the data on the computer or use an easily accessible network share.

Dear UrsanTemplar,

those are different APIs that act in different ways to the computer system. Some are older and some new. Windows Multimedia Device Output is quite new and going to be the new standard. That is the reason why using this now fixes your problem.
