This is very well possible, I have it working here. However, you must check the error log first to see what the exact error is that prevents the SRT from showing. Usually you will find some indications such as "found <movie>.srt", and then "error opening <whatever it is that is missin...

Just in case anybody is wondering about this same issue, I did not solve it. I did work around it by downloading the VLC 0.8.6 source, ffmpeg svn and compiling those together.

That's not the problem, I have installed the dvdread packages, both binary and development: [host]~$ rpm -qa | grep dvdread libdvdread3-0.9.4-5mdk libdvdread3-devel-0.9.4-5mdk If I hadn't installed the development package the compiling would not have worked in the first place. I build the VLC RPM my...

Is this "all has to be escaped" still valid for VLC/VLM 0.8.6? I am asking this since we're having a bit of an issue with the VLM commands. With my build of VLC 0.8.6 I can play the following: setup mvpmc input "/opt/My Friend's Wedding.avi" Somebody else on the other hand has to...

Thanks for this, I didn't find this on the flac search, but I'll compare it to what I have done with the default specfile.

Perhaps it's useful for other people if I publish my work somewhere? If so, how can I put in on the forums or is the wiki a better place?

0.8.6 dependency check on libdvdread not correct?

I was working on compiling VLC 0.8.6 and I got almost everything working, or disabled, except libdvdread. I have installed libdvdread 0.9.4, libdvdread3-0.9.4-5mdk to be exact, yet on configure and on the RPM installation VLC keeps complaining that it needs a libdvdread of >=0.9.4. Is this a known i...

Well, I found that a complete re-compilation where ffmpeg is statically linked does solve the problem. (Took a while to figure out how to get the provided specfile working though......) I can now use the apostrophy character as long as the whole filename is enclosed in double quotes: "My Friend...

Ah, for Mandriva (2006.0).

However, if you have one for Fedora, I'll take it, updating that shouldn't take too much, it would probably work out of the box anyway.

Creating VLC RPMs, is there a current specfile available?

Does anybody have a valid specfile to create ffmpeg and VLC RPMs? I used the specfile that is included in the current 0.8.6 release, but I had to severely edit it to even make it walk through ffmpeg, and then finally it broke on libvlc_pic.a, a file that's not even created. There must be people who ...

Actually I'm about to open a new thread, because I can't get VLC 0.8.6 run in telnet mode. Well, it compiles allright, but as soon as I ask a film it segfaults on me. It runs fine on the Linux X-windows desktop, but the telnet (VLM) version segfaults right after opening a httpd with no error message...

Telnet interface problems with apostrophy (') characters

Is there a solution to my problem: I have set up a VoD solution using a Hauppage MVP, on which I can play transcoded AVI files. The transcoding is done using VLC on a Linux machine started with the telnet interface. Feeding a filename etc. works fine for all filenames, even with spaces in them, but ...

Error when using the telnet interface: no crop padd module m

I am trying to compile (and get to work) VLC 0.9.0 SVN daily build 20061210. The compiling works and then I can start the telnet interface using "vlc -I Telnet --sout-transcode-fps 23.9760 --sout-transcode-width 720 --sout-transcode-height 576 --sout-transcode-deinterlace". However, when c...
