I'm actually trying to hardcode it into the video

The srt file does display with the video which confirms it is ok but why can't I hardcode it onto the vide?

Hello I'm a pretty basic user of VLC but I have to hardcode some subtitles onto a video for the first time ever I've configured the myriad of settings but the subtitles do not appear. I'm pretty sure it is not a colour problem of white on white or a position problem as the title of the video appears...
