I can't get this to work either.... I have: VLC media player 0.8.6c USB Multimedia Keyboard with play/pause, next, previous, and stop buttons I can go into gnome-keybinding-properties and gnome 'sees' my keys... I've mapped them to the play/pause, next, previous and stop actions.... I can start VLC ...

Through the use of chapters that can be embedded in the container this is possible. Are you talking about doing a full blown DVD with menus and chapter points or are you talking about just the .mpeg file itself? I'm not familiar with .mpeg files and embedded chapter points. Are these related to GOP...

jump point and a .mpeg file

Say that I start playing a .mpeg file.
I am at 5:40 into the stream. Now I
want to jump ahead in time to 7:45.

Is there a way to do that? I have a
list of 'jump points' that I want to
be able to 'jump' to...
