HI got the same error and it is related to mingw-w64: see https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=755448 Solution is to use Ubuntu 15.04 there the problem is solved. you need package 3.2.0 of mingw-w64. I have a testfile that contains an mpeg4 stream that switches midstream to mpeg2. I'm running two vlc applications one on linux vlc 2.1.6 and one on windows vlc 2.1.5.
