It plays True HD 7.1 and DTS HD MA 5.1, but not DTS HD MA 7.1 without dropping to DTS 5.1 after some seconds. Is that a known limitation or bug? I think I read some other user mentioning this somewhere else. The nVidia Shield is able play that on other apps.

Thank you. I actually saw that before coming here. The reason I was asking was to double check here as there was another thread from like 2016 or so where the moderator was saying VLC supports 24bit and 192khz. But it didn't specify if it was on Windows or Android.
