Fed up with this thread, no one replies to anyone else's comments. Just everyone complaining rather that attempting to solve their own problem regardless of how much or little (in my case) knowledge they have. I've struggled to install and run "yt-dlp" but at least I now have acceptable ou...
@ArtView, Still struggling! Found this https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubedl/comments/qzqzaz/can_someone_please_post_a_simple_guide_on_making/ from 3 years ago, it's archived but still useful info. It varies from your tutorial in that it advises to put the new path into the "User variables Path&qu...
@ArtView, or anyone who can understand this instruction set! I have followed the "basic procedure" up to but not including step 5:- 5. Creating a path, any path you want, to any drive (C or D or E or...) you want, and placing the "yt-dlp" folder at the end of the path. At this p...
@ArtView Good spot!
I'll give it a try.
Seems to be much like "get_iplayer" which is another Godsend.
I too "know nothing" and am guided by and thankful for the wisdom of others who are adept in this, and possibly other "black arts"!
Thanks @Lotesdelere, sorry to have duplicated the problem. I didn't search for it because I assumed it was 'cos I had messed up the replacement of the luac file. I will now follow the thread you link to, but just two more questions: 1) Is there a difference between the "dot-luac" and the &...
Wanting to copy videos from youtube and find that the stream seems to be found but the screen just flashes up every now and again, doesn't play and obviously I cant progress from there. Tried downloading the "latest LUAC file from https://github.com/videolan/vlc/blob/master/share/lua/playlist/y...
Hi Hitchhiker, Yes, I do live in the UK, Manchester for my sins so no need for a VPN! The BBC's own interface for downloading iPlayer content which you link to, whilst "legitimate" leaves something to be desired! I'm not sure which of these genius's (squarepenguin, or dinkypumpkin) created...
Hi my friend, having Googled the query, I found this: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-to-disassociate-a-file-from-an-app-in-windows/37b58eec-060b-432f-8b64-277a6c369414 Tried it and it worked. Just note, the steps #10 and #11 which maybe I should have followed with your own...
Hi Hitchhiker, good to see that you're well! Just followed your instructions but upon navigating to the blank .exe file I saved, I get this:- https://i.postimg.cc/fLp2xnwR/screen-shot.jpg Remember last time with a similar problem, that too altered all text files seen by VLC, to "xxx.luac" ...
I accept that get_iplayer assistance is not provided here, but I describe the sequence of events which brought me to this sorry state in the hope that someone might be able to help me undo the association I seem to have created with .SRT files! As can be seen, I am not safe around technolo...
Thanks for confirming that, the problem I have is that on the old “IOS”, I could watch videos which had the accompanying “srt” file and the subs would show correctly, now with iPadOS, those srt files are not recognised, this is not progress!
Thanks @fkuehne, ripping that music will have to wait until I’m home from holiday next month! Do you have an answer or the other question regarding the missing menu items? I’ve used VLC for so many different tasks over the years on my various PC’S on both Windows and Linux platforms where it’s the “...
I use VLC ON MY PC, and the GUI is totally different to that on my iPad running iPad OS 15.4.1 I cannot find the menus that are present on my PC in order to rip audio tracks from YouTube. How can I achieve this, either on my iPad, or failing that on my Huawei P30 Pro running EMUI 11.0.0 and VLC ver:...
Posting here since on this voyage of discovery I have encountered the need for the "libdvdcss" file which curiously resides on the Videolan servers! :? Whilst just finding my way with Handbrake, copying my Box Set of "MASH The Martini's and Medicine Collection", comprising 36 dis...
Hi @unidan, well that's another half hour of my life I've lost! :) Just followed the same Video Tutorial https://www.movavi.com/learning-portal/how-to-add-subtitles-in-vlc-permanently.html again and behold, the same result! They do say the first sign of madness is to repeat the same steps and expect...
Not yet tried to re-do the overlaid subs, since rummaging in my "toy-box" has sent me off at a tangent! I've re-discovered an old Android TV Box, a "Z69 4K UHD Android TV Box" AKA a Kodi Box. This has allowed me through the medium of Kodi, to watch various USB sticks with content...
Ratz! I knew that'd come back and bite me on the bum!
I deleted the file as it was annoying me sat on my desktop!
had no idea it was possible to change the orientation of videos.
I'll try again later.
@Hitchhiker, thanks for that pearl of wisdom! You are absolutely correct, my logic tells me that if something is "Embedded", then it has "become a part" of what ever is the subject matter "overlay" however suggests to my simple mind that it has just been laid on top of ...
thanks for the reply, sorry if i look rude Not at all, I'm afraid that I have been using VLC for almost 18 years and still need a crib sheet because I can't always remember how to do some things. It really is the Swiss Army Knife of Media players, constantly amazes me. I have only just recently, (l...
Exactly! I was more cruelly deceived, in that when following countless so called tutorials, VLC dutifully went about its business, leaving me "expectant" of its usual brilliant results. Hopes have been repeatedly dashed as one attempt after another resulted in nothing more than an mp3 in m...
Hi @unidan, thanks for confirming that I'm not doing something wrong when following those fake tutorials!
Any idea when VLC 4 will be released, ...or advice on how to achieve this as a novice in the meantime?
