Configuration/Preferences Manager?

Being the config nightmare that VLC is - wouldn't it be nice to have a configuration manager that makes it easy to switch between different configs, save, name, etc, them? I do a lot of switching between home use, single screen/dual screen, OSD, etc. for festivals and festival preparations, and it's...

Re: Does (or will) VLC Mac play DCPs?

The problem is that those who know how to do it do not use the Mac GUI version. But the main issue is that the performance of even the fastest Macs is not sufficient to play DCPs in realtime. I think support for DCP/J2C is important for the Linux VLC versions, because there are no DCP players for Li...

Re: .dmg image on desktop

You probably also set VLC to start automatically when you log in - look into your dock for a VLC symbol - click on it, close app, then try copying the VLC symbol to 'Applications' again. Things like this are sometimes very nagging to experience, but also to explain from a distance... try find someon...

Re: unencrypted DCP playback

I have no 10.10.x machine to test it, only 10.9.x, I'm afraid. Well, if that comforts you, it won't do realtime anyway for now... Maybe we should move this thread to the OS X subforum finally and find other people who are willing to test it. I'm quite confused that some of your posts suggest your in...

Re: Cannot install VLC 2.2.1 on snow leopard

@bohlgas - what version is your 'old' VLC player? Up until some recent versions, there were both 32Bit and 64Bit version for VLC available for the 2.x path. e.g. I still have 2.0.5(32) on my disc. These should be still available on the previous version archives: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-...

2.2.1(64) has no trouble on my late 2006 C2D MacBook running 10.6.8

Re: unencrypted DCP playback

OS X 10.10.3, MacBook Air 6,2, Intel i7, Intel HD Graphics 5000 This should now go to the OS X subforum I guess, but it works (very slow) on my old MacBook C2D/GMA950 10.6.8 using the 'official' 2.2.1(64). I open the J2C MXF through the normal GUI file open dialog. Video output mode is set to autom...

Re: unencrypted DCP playback

Okay, stupid me, fixed some of these issues - seems that default settings are just not the best for such a slow codec as J2k: Disabling 'Skip frames' and 'Drop late frames' will at least show 'moving images', albeit slow. This should work for all platforms. Now how do I open a DCP/CPL (not just a pl...

Re: unencrypted DCP playback

May I attach to this thread? Because I see similar issues with DCPs under Mac OS X and Windows OS as well. I think VLC was able to play J2c encoded MXF files since version 2.01/2.02 or so. It was dropped in some intermediate versions while support was further developed, so, some versions lost it, so...
