32-bit VLC on a 64-bit Windows 7. Does it matter?

I upgraded VLC to V2.2.1 on my Win7 laptop. I played an MP4 file that I had downloaded on my XP and copied to the Win7. Now, on the Win7 I can't stream any YouTube videos from the internet with my Firefox browser -- but YouTube videos do run in the IE browser.

What could be wrong here?

I had this problem also when I upgraded VLC to v2.2.1 on my XP SP3. The disabling of Accelerated video output/Overlay video output fixed it.
