Re: problem with streaming mpeg ts when using ffmpeg muxer

I inceased the caching by doing "sout-mux-caching=500000". It didn't work. The error messages still occur. Here's the full script if I use command line: vlc dshow:// --dshow-vdev="screen-cap" --dshow-adev="audio-cap" :sout=#gather:transcode{vcodec=h264,vb=3000,fps=30,sc...

Re: Using ffmpeg ts muxer in vlc

Thanks. Now, if I use ... mux=ffmpeg{mux=mpegts}, ... VLC seems to take it. However, I saw another problem. I think I should start another thread for it. Again, thanks for the tip with which I could go one step farther.

Using ffmpeg ts muxer in vlc

How can I use ffmpeg's ts muxer instead of vlc's? I still want to use vlc for transcoding to h.264 and AAC. But would like to use ffmpeg's transport stream multiplexer for mpeg ts generation. How do I do that with command line in Windows?

Thanks.

long tune time for TS multicast stream

Hi, I used VLC 1.1.15 to transcode a video into H.264/AAC streams and mux them into mpeg2 TS, then multicast the mpeg2 TS to a Motorola VIP 1216 set top box. Now the problem is when I tune to the stream, it takes a long time (10-60 seconds) for the stream to play back. In a diagnostic screen on the ...

sample size of STSZ table in MP4

Hi All, I've got 2 questions regarding the sample size in MP4: 1). Is it possible to get the VLC encoder (both H.264 and AAC) to output fixed sample size for MP4? Per the MP4 format spec, I can put a fixed sample size in STSZ table. I'm just wondering how I can do that with VLC. 2). If the answer to...

Re: writing file to hard drive for progressive downlaoding

That's what I'm afraid of unfortunately. I'll try the new version anyway. Thanks for all the information.

Re: writing file to hard drive for progressive downlaoding

Yes, the targeted client supports progressive download only. I'll need to capture the live stream from a network camera and wrap the streams in MP4 file for HTTP download. What I want is to emulate the streaming experience, i.e., starting the download while writing to the MP4 file. Unfortunately, I ...

writing file to hard drive for progressive downlaoding

Hi There, Here's what I've been trying to do but failed: capture live broadcast from a remote network camera to a mp4 file and play it back from a mobile device at the same time. The targeted mobile device would only play remote video by progressive downloading. I want to start the progressive downl...

Thanks for the quick reply and the tip.
VLC 0.8.6a is supposed to support WMV3 transcoding according to the release note. I have successfully transcoded a MPEG4 file to WMV3 format. And yes, I'm working with Windows XP sp2.

Problem with transcoding and streaming

I downloaded and installed VLC 0.8.6a. Using it, I'm trying to transcode a MPEG4 streaming video source to WMV and stream the WMV to clients at real time. However, when I use Windows Media Player 10 to view it, it's only black screen. It looks like the connection is fine. The media player receives d...

transcoding to wma

Hi there,
I just started using VLC. I'm trying to transcode v.264/AVC to wm9 (wmv 3). However, in the VLC GUI, there's no wma option in the audio trancode. Why is that?
Also, if I trancode the audio to mpeg audio, Windows Media player doesn't play it. Anyone knows what the problem is?
