On 2 December 2023, the problem still exists with the latest version.. OpenGL helps, but at the same time HDR colors are lost from movies. So, if you want to get the full benefit out of 4K HDR movies, you have to use version 3.0.4 + direct3d11 output and hardware acceleration.

Direct3D11 Makes subtitles black if HDR is on. OpenGL works normal. The problem does not exist in VLC 3.0.4 version. https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 61#p492761

VLC+HD Master audio Lossless support?

Hi!

Does the VLC media player support lossless Blu-ray HD Master audio? There is apparently also a lossy version inside this lossless file to ensure compatibility for blu-ray players that do not support lossless sound.
