Which version are you using ? I was using 1.3.3.7 (I think) which had problems loading .srt files. But I just checked and my VLC is now on 1.7.0.0 (see settings) and plays the subtitle files automatically !!! Just out of curiosity tried to manually load subtitles and that now also works. No problems...
Same here.
Just downloaded VLC for Modern Windows on a Dell Venue Pro 11 running 8.1 Enterprise from the store.
Plays .mp4 without problems, but won't display the .srt subtitles even after manually selecting them.
There is a way ... When you launch a video from the "Files" app, a player called "Music Backstop" is used. You can see it by holding the arrow on the navigation bar to show all running apps. ( http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-630/285723-disabling-navigation-bar.html#p...
hi, just curious as you also use a Lumia 930 ; how do you get to select the subtitle file ?? Here it does not play along automagically as on other devices. I can only select it thru some apps ; Media Explorer (which crashes), Onedrive (useless) and Phone, which seems to work but after selecting no s...
hi, just got a Windows 8.1 Phone (Lumia 630) at work ... (well, it's better than the Blackberry I had before that). Anyway, was delighted to see the VLC beta (v1.2.1.4) and immediately installed it to catch up on episodes I missed (on the train to/from work). Files are on the microSD in a fol...
Noticed that with the latest 1 or 2 versions, the sound doesn't stay in synch with video (episodes from TV series) .. also tried the Mr & Mrs Smith .mp4 video from the test package again (in the sticky start topic here) and it's now also out of sync, while I'm 100% sure that when I tested early ...
Feature request ...
I download all the TV series I watch on my Archos G9 on my NAS. At the moment I use a file browser to connect to the NAS over wi-fi and then open the avi or mp4 and select VLC to play it ... but it would be nice to browse my SMB shares in VLC itself !
well you just play the movie and that you have an option to select the subtitle linked to the movie and that's it. And that, in your opinion, is easier than just having a subtitle file for every movie/episode with the same name and the extension .srt that is selected automagically when you start th...
After enabling hardware accelerated decoding, the video and audio get out of synch (only tried .mp4 so far) and it gets worse when I skip forward or backward by dragging the slider.
I've got an Archos G9 80 tablet ( GPU : PowerVR SGX540). No logcat files are created when this happens ...
Not just Jellybean ; I get the same on ICS with .avi's ... when I select 'play as video' I only get sound, no picture.
Even stranger, when I select just 'play' nothing at all happens
EDIT: nothing in vlc_logcat files ... (with Verbose checked)
my Archos G9 80 calls it's internal memory SDcard (/sdcard), but I've also got an external micro SD slot (/mnt/sdcard) that I use for storing audio and video files. I was hoping to also use that for installing apps ...
Just installed the 2nd beta and I see VLC can now be installed on SD card ... but how?
Do I need a tool to move it or does this feature only work with a fresh install?
(Sorry, Android newbie)
I'm running VLC in Windows XP Pro SP2 (0.8.6e) and Mandriva 2008 (0.8.6d) on the same (dual-boot) machine, but do not notice a difference ... certainly not pixelating. Cpu : AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ Memory : 2 GB Kingston DDR2-SDRAM PC2-5300 (333 MHz) Graphics card : XFX GeForce 86...
Then go to: INPUTS / CODECS -> ACCESS MODULES -> FILES And change the Caching value to something higher. Tried that to view 'Lost' episodes (on a NAS in the LAN) on my wireless laptop, but I keep getting this : "PTS is out of range (<some number>), dropping buffer " (or "clearing out...
Mounting is no problem (using Smb4K for that, using SMBFS not CIFS), but on a wireless connection, will the 'caching value in ms' in 'SMB input' do something when I open or mount an SMB share ? When I mount a shared video file from the NAS on a wireless laptop, the video stutters every couple of min...
Thanks for the tip! Works like a charm for wireless video streaming. I'm watching the same sort of video files mentioned before on a wireless laptop ; mostly 'Lost' episodes I missed on TV and downloaded, 40 mins. and about 350Mb (HDTV?). I first tried to play them back directly from the NAS (SMB sh...
Hi, I've got a NAS in my network that supports SMB. So I can browse in Konqueror to the share (smb://storage-42cd/) and then open folders, right-click files and open them with VLC. In VLC I can enter the complete path (smb://storage-42cd/movies/movie.avi) to a file in the VLC 'open file' dialog, but...
what would be normal CPU usage for vlc, without subtitles ??
i'm using 0.7.2 and it averages 60 - 70% and regularly takes >90% on an Athlon XP 1700+ with 512Mb memory running Windows 2000 Pro SP4, DirectX 9.0b, streaming a DVD (wired & wireless).
