I have the same, but with the MMO LotRO. I think it is DirectX for the Screen. VLC uses it and these games use it. Once you have opened it, the focus goes to the game and VLC gives an error when afterward (end game or Alt-Tab) you try to go back. I do not normally have both open, I run Vista32... :o...
