Hello randomly for months VLC has played some video files, I think most .mkv and at random times the playback quits, or the playback skips to the end of the video and then exits as if the video playback is finished. VLC 3 Nightly cannot play this video file it freezes, skips, loses audio. Using another player it plays normal. My operating system is old , 10.12.6 on an old Mac Mini Am I missing a codec? I changed hardware acceleration on and off no difference. Is my operating system too old? Thanks for any help....

Update If I click on the video screen using the mouse then VLC hides the cursor

if VLC is opened and I load a video file the mouse cursor stays displayed if I close vlc and open a video file directly and close vlc after a file finishes playing the cursor displays and disappears as normal.

Using VLC nightly v3 and I have this also
I changed the fullscreen mode unchecked use native and cursor disappears
but sound lags behind some seconds in fullscreen

Hi VLC team, if you have time soon can you look at this bug and I am happy to test a nightly build if you can fix. Really I'd like to have the encoded hdmi output selected and kept as saved each time vlc starts. Thank you! Bill

VLC 3 is faster on any configuration than 2.2.x, so you don't loose anything if you update.

it skips and freezes playing any hevc (non 4k) I had posts about this a long time ago after vlc v3 came out. have you updated it since? I have not stayed up to date on the vlc updates

VLC 2.2.8 played it fine, I hope it can be found to make VLC 3+ play the same files.

I have not heard back from them. It is all large hevc encoded files that cannot play in vlc 3 but do in vlc 2

Yes, it is quite likely that 50fps is too much to be decoded in software. Does the file play for you correctly with 2.2.8?
