Re: Advanced use of multiple instances

Is there really no one but me interested in this feature?
Or is there already a way to do this of which I am not aware?

Advanced use of multiple instances

I would like to use multiple instances of VLC, yet still be able open certain media files in an existing instance instead of a new one. In my case I am using windows 7 64 bit but I am quite sure this also applies to many other OSes. Example: I have 2 folders, each containing a couple of mp3 files. I...

How do I use the activeX plugin?

Hi, When I use Internet Explorer 11 to open a url pointing to a weblink, I like that video to play. I have used quicktime player in the past, which simply played the file right away inside my browser window. I suppose VLC should have simulair functionality. I have the ActiveX element installed. Howe...

Re: VLC version 3.0 Feature Request(s)

It would be great if streaming to TV over LAN or WLAN would be easy in general. Unfortunately most TVs still make things difficult. I bet it's already possible for me with the TV I have, but it would take quite some effort to learn how to do it.

Re: Update feature

VLC usually releases a new version on their web site well before it appears it the updater, so it may still be within that time period
Why?
And how long?

Show us what developers do

I have seen many issues being reported, but not many solutions. It is frustrating to watch, so many people with valid issues or ideas, but no one available to do the job. It makes me wish I could do it myself, exercise that desire to solve the issue, spend that free time helping others and gaining e...

Re: Update feature

I just checked the website to make sure it hasn't happened to me again. Turns out my 2.1.5 should have updated to 2.2.0. THIS IS A REOCCURING BUG. Admin please move this treat to the bug report section and let's have this issue solved asap! *** since this appears to be an actual bug here is my infor...

Where are the developers at?!

This forum has so little activity, it could be argued it is dead! This is the official forum for VLC media player right? So where are the people in charge of bringing out new updates? The developers solving the bugs and issues we report on this forum? Is it still worth my effort to voice my experien...

Re: Update feature

I had the same issue a while back. I uninstalled VLC and installed the latest version 'manually'.
I agree this issue, like many others, did not get the attention it should have had. If things like these go unnoticed, I wonder how long VLC will last.

Re: Why can't Google sue VideoLAN for YouTube videos?

That would be the same as recording your screen while playing a YouTube video in your web browser. Goggle won't sue your recording software nor your web browser for it. the only have a problem with software that was made specifically for downloading video's, which usually goes at a much higher speed...

Re: Support kinda sucks!

It's hard to do support. You receive more insutls than praises, to be honest. Same for writing about issues you found. I just spend an hour or more trying to write a comprehendible explanation of an issue I'm having, I just hope at least one person bothers to read it and nod his head in agreement. ...

Enqueue an item to the playlist of an existing instance

There already is an option called "Enqueue items into playlist in one instance mode". The explanation on hovering it reads: "When using the one instance only option: enqueue items to playlist and keep playing current item". I would love to be able to "Enqueue items into play...

Re: Support kinda sucks!

Most of the time no one even tries to help by asking clarification. "Could you elaborate on ...?" "could you go into more detail about ...?" "Have you tried ... ?" "What version of the OS are you using?" and so on. I sometimes find it rewarding to solve people...

"Under construction"
We've been over this...

This shape can be used as a megaphone (speaking-trumpet) to broadcast (acoustic) signal, this is the purpose of the videolan project.

Re: Screen turns bright when opening player

I'm out of ideas already.
How exactly do you set the brightness? I didn't even know the PC can control the screen settings in any way. Or is this brightness setting in windows itself? Or are we talking about a laptop instead of a desktop PC?

I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be able to solve this one.

Re: Soft Pause / Soft Resume

GREAT IDEA! I don't need it myself, but just reading this makes me wonder why we don't have this option yet. In a movie you would probably miss a second or 2 as the pause isn't immediate, but especially on live music, or playlists, this would be a useful function. Here comes the hardest part: findin...

Support kinda sucks!

"VLC media player for Windows Troubleshooting" Nice place for questions, but not if you're looking for answers. Although some questions are being answered, most, including some incredibly simple ones, don't get a single reply. (sometimes the creator bumps it) Of course it kind of was to be...

Does the story have something to do with traffic, or rather with the 'cone' shape?

Re: Problem with associations files on Windows 8.1

Your issue isn't clear to me. Can you tell us what exactly does or does not happen when you try certain things? It sounds like you did everything right. You should have an option to associate file extensions when you install VLC. Later you can associate file extensions using the control panel in win...
