Yes. Crashes with VLC 2.0.2, and latest 2.1.0 nightlies.

For video-x you might have to separate controls from video window, so --no-embedded-video

You can customize buttons via Tools -> Customize interface... if that is what you seek...

What VLC version you use, and with what skin engine?

Does Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) complain something when you are transcoding?

If you mean HTTP live streaming, it is work under progress. 2.1.x nightlies might work somewhat better.

IIRC the dialog behavior will change in VLC 2.1.x release.

Tools -> Preferences (Show settings: All) Input / Codecs and locate section Advances which has caching values. Adjust them. (Save and restart VLC after changes)

You could try resetting VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc folder and see if that helps.

According to the log, it only supports

channels:2, samples/sec:96000 bits/sample:16

Then most likely VLC uses wrong device. You can check from route that it is defaulting to right device.

It would be VERY nice if the config file was text, instead of a bunch of numbers, so users could find / fix problems like this.

Config files (vlcrc and qt4 stuff) are text files. You can edit them with text editors.

You should reset VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc (<-- paste that to Windows Explorer, or to Start -> Run) folder.

You can just use the playlist file as parameter,
e.g.
