I have set the default audio device in the preferences. When I close and restart VLC, I see that selected device still set as the default. I figured this out on my own. Bringing up the Adjustments and Effects window (Ctrl-E), under the Video Effects tab, Advanced tab, I used the Clones feature to create 1 clone of the video output. Then I used KDE's window customizations on the video playback window (Alt-F3). More Actions | Special Win...

Hi. I have VLC version 2.0.5 running under Gentoo Linux (KDE). I have a two-screen setup on a laptop, where the main screen is on the laptop's screen, and a secondary screen is connected to the laptop via HDMI.
