I hate to necro an old thread, but I'm more or less having the same issue, ironically also with Coalgirls' Toradora. Basically 2-3 seconds before the chapter/segment change, audio cuts, subs vanish just slightly afterwards (during dialogue if it's present) and then it plays the opening without issue...
