Wow. You are a saviour. FLAC never associated properly, not on install, and it didn't exist in "Set up associations" within the program. Not for 2.1.5 nor 2.1.0; possible bug with those versions, where this part of the code was somehow left out? Anyways thanks for giving me VLC context men...
