I checked the preferences and there's nothing there. But now I understand. I had "VLC for Android Beta" installed and this updated itself only to 0.9.10. I removed it and installed "VLC for Android" which is currently at version 1.2.4 rev b7716f6

That feature request says 'Fixed'.
I just downloaded a let the Android version update itself (version is 0.9.10 revision 630a95b of 16 okt 2014), and it is not fixed, the titles in the list still scroll horizontally.
Very weird - the latest revision is 5,5 months old?

No, but file date would be fine for most people (I know it is for me)

A list of files in the player can be sorted by name and length.

Please add the option to sort by date.

When people have podcasts (in a series) that are not named consequently they may want to play them in the order they were released/downloaded.
