I do not have an answer to the solution via VLC, however, I have figured out a quick and easy way to change the metadata info to match the title for multiple video files at once. Happy Day! Solved the problem by finding the installer version of 2.0.8 on an old external HD.

Now VLSub works great :)

Not sure why it was the .zip version of 2.0.8 didn't work but the installer did. Guess I needed manual install directions to be included LOL.
