Re: Hardware Acceleration DVXA

You need to activate the OSX hardware acceleration by hand. So you should check your input/codec preferences before you start doing any comparisons (VDA needs to be selected in the drop down list). Also note that it is normal that VLC might be consuming a little bit more CPU, so we can still activa...

Re: Hardware Acceleration DVXA

Hi there, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I meant DVXA as a shorten version of "hardware accelerated." My bad, I shouldn't have said that considering that it's a technology used on Windows. According to VLC 2.1.5, there's hardware acceleration decoding: "Add hardware decoding for ...

Re: VLC web plugin not working on OS X Yosemite

There is something wrong with the nightly builds and VLC 2.2 is still not out, so there is no public release.

However, you can use my semi-private beta version: https://www.dropbox.com/s/c0zubsrnmiklk ... 4.dmg?dl=0
It doesn't seem to work on Safari 5.1 on OS X 10.6.8

Hardware Acceleration DVXA

I am just curious about what "type" of DVXA VLC 2.2 RC2 uses since AFAIK Movist: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/movist/id461788075?mt=12 CPU usage is way lower. On an average 1080p MKV H.264 video I manage around 20-30% CPU usage compare to VLC's 40-50%. Using VLC I can't even play this v...

Re: VLC web plugin not working on Mountain Lion?

This plugin will not be available for the newest versions of Chrome in the very near future, because Chrome completely removed the technique used by our plugin. Instead, Chrome uses a new framework for plugins, which we are not using currently. Maybe we will adapt our code to this framework at some...

Re: Troubles with a particular MKV

The font config cache is regenerated, which should be only needed once. Just wait until it continues playback. (The new VLC version will include a progress bar to make clear that the program is doing something useful here...) If you try to play the file the second time, it should start immediately....

Re: White Screen in OS 10.6.8 all of a sudden

All my videos still play with MPlayer. However, VLC is my "Go To" app and all of a sudden I am just seeing a white screen but getting audio. I've replaced all my codecs and VLC. I've run disc warrior on the Disc. I've deleted the preferences. Can anybody help? Do a clean install of VLC. R...

Re: Hardware Acceleration on 2.1.5

Hardware Acceleration does not work on 2010 MacBook Air (it crashes when a file entitled to use DVXA plays), I would like to know if this also happens to MacBook Pro or MacBook users as it could be due to the same nVIDIA 320M chip. This seems to be solved on VLC 2.2.0... still waiting for the next r...

Re: VLC web plugin not working on Mountain Lion?

The last 10 or so nightlies don't work at all because the libvlccore library is referenced wrongly. From the console: 23.09.14 20:36:57,328 PluginProcess[1545]: Error loading /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/VLC Plugin.plugin/Contents/MacOS/VLC-Plugin: dlopen(/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/VLC Plugin.plugin/...

Re: VLC GPU Acceleration only works if enabled explicitly

Hardware Acceleration doesn't work on my 2010 MacBook Air OS X 10.6.8 while it should be totally compatible (nVidia 320M). VLC crashes automatically when tries to use GPU acceleration with a compatible file format. It seems to be fixed on VLC 2.2 as I reported here: https://forum.videolan.org/viewto...

Re: VLC crashing every time

The crash is indeed in the hardware acceleration module when transfering decoded data from the hardware to the screen. Can you try a 2.2.0 nightly build to see if the problem is resolved? http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/macosx-intel/?C=M;O=D I just tried vlc-2.2.0-x86_64-20140824-0313.zip and i...

Hide Play List Sidebar

Is there anyway you can hide it without popping up every time you open and close VLC? Currently even if it's stretched to the end (so it's hidden) it is still "visible" and there's an animation or delay to hide it. Can you have a very simple window like MPlayerX / MPlayer OSX Extended or Q...

VLC crashing every time

Don't really know what I messed up but not even stable versions like 2.1.4 or 2.1.5 seem to do it for me. Any file played on VLC will make it crash. Since crash report is too long to be posted, here's the pastebin link: http://pastebin.com/RkZU8RpX Edit. Just figured out it was because I switched fr...

Re: Macbook which GPU for hardware decoding

This is an implementation detail of the operation system. VLC provides raw data and gets decoded data back. What happens in between, is not known and can't be influenced. So, we have to keep fingers crossed that Apple did a clever implementation here. So VLC hardware decoding works on most GFX card...
