Hi there! It is now the 10 year anniversary since my first post requesting a checkbox in settings to disable the reading of metadata in files, resulting in the playlist only showing the filenames.
Any news on this matter?

Eight years have passed since I posted my request. Any news? ... In 8 years, you could have already gone to university to major in programming , graduate from it, and fix VLC yourself. Well.. I AM a programmer, but I'm not working on VLC. and.. Hi there, any progress on the option I've requested?

Not media library, i drag and drop a bunch of files into the playlist (not docked) and the filenames are displayed thanx to the "do not parse" setting. However, when an episode is played the meta is read and the title changes to match metadata. I fall asleep and next day the whole playlist...

Hard question to answer. I "care in the playlist" because I use it. If it displays the filenames i can make use of the information, if it displays the faulty metadata as "title" I can not. Look at the screenshot provided earlier by a fellow vlc user an I think you will see problem.

The only way to show File names, is to remove all Tags from your files. I use Adobe Bridge to do it. You can use any tag tool to remove tags. There is no option to do it in VLC - that's exactly what we are asking for. In your last remark you say: "There is no option to do it" If you by &q...
