Hello, Unfortunately, I must report that the solution I wrote about Jumbo Frames and LargeMTU setting did not work out as expected. VLC still has problems with a playback from the NAS directly. And finally: success!

Enabling Jumbo Frames on the Router (5K) and on my NIC (5K), including setting the thing on the NAS, now I can use Jumbo Frames and the playback is working too.

Phew. A needle in the haystack. Maybe this pops up for someone in the future when searching.
