I did click the up arrow to take the file back to the top level, but when I click the folder icon it only gives me the choice to create a new folder. Yes!! "s" (or "S") works well, thanks much. Do you or anyone know about setting the default to ON for subtitles. I admit hitting "s" isn't hard, but I just found in Preferences settings that I can't get to work. VLC Preferences, Show All: Input/Codecs shows a right side...
