Re: Let the computer sleep when nothing is playing

I agree, this behavior is quite obviously *wrong* and no other video player behaves like this. It is especially problematic when you're watching a long playlist of some learning material (online course recording) and you want to 'pause' a lesson in the middle to continue later instead of just stoppi...

VLC stalls on 2nd load from file manager

Thanks. I'm not familiar with desktop session management.
Any idea what I could investigate further to find the root cause of this problem?

VLC stalls on 2nd load from file manager

I'm using Unity on Ubuntu 14.10 as well and I'm being hit by this annoying bug very hard. I get the bug when launching VLC from the command line as well. Here's an output of strace -fCrT : http://paste.ubuntu.com/9966130/ Note that the thread 10017 does a futex call with a 15 second timeout and it f...

Re: Cannot choose Audio Output via command line

"TX-NR27..." does not look like a valid device GUID. Please recheck your command line. Hello Remi, I found out the GUID and I tried the same command-line with a GUID instead of the name, but still nothing changed in VLC. I simply want a command line option that will let me do the followin...

Re: Picking output audio device w command line in .bat file

Somewhat obviously, DirectSound-related command line options only work with the DirectSound plugin. If you use MMDevice or WaveOut instead, the command line parameter will be ignored. I simply want a command line option that will let me do the following: * Switch the audio output module to "Di...

Re: Picking output audio device w command line in .bat file

As JB said, you can change it in the VLC preferences, save and check the value in vlcrc. Anyway, the DirectSound output plugin internally identifies audio device by their GUID, consistent with what most Windows software does. (The device name is not unique, so that's not an option.) As I said in my...

Re: Cannot choose Audio Output via command line

"TX-NR27..." does not look like a valid device GUID. Please recheck your command line. I thought I was supposed to use the same string that appears in VLC? How do I find out the device GUID? By the way, even running "vlc --aout=directx" doesn't seem to work. Have you tried the c...

Cannot choose Audio Output via command line

Hi, I'm trying to change the audio output to DirectX with a selected output device, and then also turn SPDIF output: vlc --aout="directx" --directx-audio-device="TX-NR727 (Intel(R) Display Audio)" --spdif This launches VLC with the audio settings untouched (the audio output is &q...
