Good info, but can I keep Synaptic Package manager happy using the same commands? Same for "Software and Updates" pointers in Ubuntu? Thanks!

More info - I noticed my laptop running windoz had auto updated with the latest VLC Media player. The "Open Directory" line is gone from the drop down menu, so I suspect this has something to do with the problem on my Ubuntu machine. I tried the "open folder" command on my audio ...

Forgot to add - There was a LARGE Windows 7 update last week, maybe the update stepped on a VLC file and that's why uninstalling and then re-installing VLC worked for me? Give it a try...

I'm having a very similar problem since the recent update. Video stutters regardless of the settings. I thought upgrades were to make things better?
